Who We Are

To best represent and reinforce the work of surrounding educational communities, we develop strong connections between the GSE, school districts, local community-based organizations, and families to support the education of P-12 students and advance the practice of high-quality teaching and learning. We aim to intentionally diversify the teaching workforce and provide equitable access to professional development, curriculum, high-quality teachers, and welcoming school environments that are culturally representative in all aspects of P-12 education.

GSE-CSPN Project Fellows 2021-2022

The Rutgers Graduate School of Education is committed to advancing excellence and equity in education in every aspect of its work.  Some key features of this commitment include:

  • Curricular and professional development initiatives focused on Community Engaged Anti-Racist (CEAR) education.
  • The development of a network of partnership school districts that serve diverse student and family populations who are each a member of the Rutgers Graduate School of Education Community School Partnership network (GSE-CSPN) and regularly host GSE candidates for internships.
  • The ongoing commitment of a diverse GSE Advisory Council comprised of partner school district personnel and parents, leaders and members of social-justice focused community-based organizations, GSE alumni, GSE students, and GSE faculty and staff. This council provides regular feedback on critical GSE decisions about programming.
  • Diversifying the teaching workforce through culturally responsive and sustaining teacher preparation has been chief among those efforts. The Diversifying the Teaching Profession Project (DTP) was funded for the 2021-22 academic year through the New Jersey Department of Education Minority Teacher Quality and Retention Program.
